know before you go

  • All appointments must be made online. There you will see your therapist’s schedule and be able to select your preferred date and time. You will be prompted, via email, to fill out a patient profile. Please complete this before your appointment, as it provides necessary information that will be beneficial for your physical therapist and includes consent to treatment.

  • At the initial evaluation, your physical therapist will perform a physical examination. Exams include a verbal history and physical tests that assess posture and balance, range of motion, and specialized tests to replicate your symptoms. Upon completion of the exam, your physical therapist will discuss your goals and recommend a PT plan.

  • Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for moving, stretching, and exercising. You may be participating in exercises and activities that increase or decrease your body temperature, so layers may be appropriate. Please avoid wearing street shoes in the clinic. Bring an alternate pair of shoes. Something comfortable you can exercise in.

  • All treatment methods and procedures will be thoroughly explained to you before you are asked to perform them. For best results, it’s necessary that you fully cooperate with the evaluation and treatment program. Though we want to limit discomfort, due to the nature of the treatment process, there are certain inherent risks, and you may experience residual soreness because you will be exerting effort and performing activities with increasing levels of difficulty. You may stop treatment if you feel any discomfort or pain.

If treatment methods are not producing the results anticipated, your therapist may recommend another form of treatment, refer you to your physician or an alternate therapist so you achieve optimal results. Your privacy, modesty, and dignity will always be considered by the staff at Adapt PT. Should you feel uncomfortable, you may refuse or stop the procedure or intervention. Your therapist will take every precaution to ensure that you are protected from any potentially hazardous situation. You will never be forced to perform any procedure that you do not wish to perform.

  • Adapt does not take insurance. In order to provide quality one-on-one care, we charge hourly service rates. We also encourage a strong home exercise program. That means fewer visits than standard practices and ensures individual time with your physical therapist. FSA/HSA payments are accepted.

We’re always exploring ways to be more inclusive for our community members who may be low-income, students, and/or those on fixed incomes.

  • A physician’s order is not required for your first ten visits OR first month of PT. If ten visits occur OR a month has passed, an appropriate practitioner’s order is necessary for resumed care. It is your responsibility to acquire this order. Visits can reset with any new reason you are participating in PT.

  • There is no parking lot. Due to alternate-side parking, you may have to park a few city blocks from the entrance. If you are unable to walk these distances, we encourage you to arrange a ride if able. After 4 pm you can park on either side of the street.

  • There are bike racks available for locking bikes directly outside the clinic. A city bus line has a drop-off in front of our main entrance. The #3 Grant Street bus line drops off at Potomac and Grant on the southeast side of the street. This route operates between downtown Buffalo and Military/Kenmore area via Grant. Also serving Northwest Buffalo neighborhoods.

  • Office doorways, entrances, and bathrooms are accessible. Bathrooms have grab bars available.

  • Lockers with locks for your things are available for your use. You will be able to keep the key with you.
